Podcast # 2 – Is it in your control? Bonus material that Glenn wanted me to edit.
Self Improvement and Motivation!
Is it in your Control?
Hello Glenn and Orlando Fan(s),
We completed are second podcast and it’s better than the first. I can even stand to listen to this one. Again, some embarassing moments as we (mostly Glenn) reveal what we think about our co-workers. Glenn wanted me to edit that part out but what fun would that be?
Self Improvement and motivation is our general topic but on this podcast we debate the idea of control! Can you control the results? Control freaks say “YES”. Based on what I have read about self improvement and motivation, the results are out of our control. The only thing we can control are our actions.
Listen in to Podcast #2, then join the debate by leaving your comments. And, if you are interested in joining our podcast or recommending a book leave your comments or contact me at oramos@createyourmind.com or Glenn at gmagas@createyourmind.com. We will be glad to have you join us. Your opinion on self improvement and motivation is welcomed and encouraged.
Thanks again.
Orlando Ramos

New details about Michael Jackson’s Death Emerge
I was wondering if you were going to blog about this…
I’m Danielle (Paul) Mangelsdorf’s husband—she turned me on to your podcast and I’ve since subscribed to the RSS feed. We ended up having some very good, in-depth conversations based on what you’ve talked about in these first two installments.
First, I just wanted to give you props on delving into the topics of developing a positive attitude and taking ownership of our lives in an earnest, inquisitive way. I think at some level we’re all trying to figure out life and it’s refreshing to hear you discuss these issues without prejudice.
I really liked your discussion on control. Danielle and I have really discussed this in the last year at length–particularly during challenging circumstances that we all face at one time or another. We reached the conclusion that you can only control your own actions. You can’t control what other people do nor the unexpected negative situations that will greet us from time to time. That’s okay, because as long as you really try your best, there’s a certain peace and satisfaction that comes as you tend to rely less on validation from the outcome, but more on the effort you put in. I tend to admire those who try to do something good and worthwhile and fail sometimes vs. those who live in fear and never try. I would like to think that most of us feel that way.
Anyway, I know this is lengthy. Such great topics. Keep up the great discussions.
Thanks,
Tyson
Good recommended website.
First of all I have some constructive feedback: The intro sound track was a good start…But you guys need to sound more energetic.
Think with the end in mind quote by Covey’s book of 7 habits of highly effective people. Is great, but I personally think we should create our path/road steps towards our goal to keep the end in mind.
One of my favorite quotes is by Ben Sweatland “Success is a Journey and not a Destination” which contradicts Covey’s Goal #2″think with the end in mind”.
Sweatland quote is what I live by because every day is a journey towards our goals, but we never have a destination because once that goal is over; we continue our journey towards the next goal.
I love the discussion about folks wanting a new job, but don’t take action to do it due to been afraid of failure. I hated my last job, but didn’t have that fear of failure because I the motivation I had to move on was happiness. My old job was affecting my mood at home, the baseball field, interactions with friends and health. I took action and left that place after only been there for 8 months.
I haven’t read the bible, but it will be a goal for me in the future to do it. Orlando, I agree about the “90 days to read the bible book” LOL…
