What else can we do to kick start your personal motivation? Have you heard it all before yet you refuse to do anything about it? And if you do something about it, how do you maintain the personal motivation you need to achieve your goals?

Here’s a secret – you can’t skip gears! Just like driving a car – Gear 1 to Gear 4 isn’t going to work. Gear 1 doesn’t really get you anywhere, but once you shift up, you get faster, once you get to 4th… you are wishing you had a 5th, 6th and 7th! This is your mind, body and soul. As your personal motivation grows, you want more…

Give a lecture to a thousand people. One walks out and says, “I’m going to change my life.” Another one walks out with a yawn and says,”I’ve heard all this before.” Why is that? Why wouldn’t both be affected the same way? Another mystery. Jim Rohn

Which one are you? Do you come to CreateYourMind.com, read a free article, and say, same old thing? Or do you read what could be the same old thing and say, “It starts today?”

There’s another type of person – it’s the one that finds personal motivation and they change their minds in order to change their lives! But then this person loses it (personal motivation) the second they realize they have to do something in order to achieve the goal they ‘loosely’ set out to achieve.

I’ve come across many people in my life that are motivated every day – all the time – by motivational quotes or something or someone that inspires them.  They say to themselves, I’m going to get up tomorrow and accomplish a goal.

Guess what… its too hard to wake up in the morning which makes it too hard to accomplish a simple goal. The next thing you know, they don’t do a single thing to accomplish their goal – and they laugh it off like it is something silly.

I’ve heard people say things like, “I wish I could… [fill in the blank]“.

I ask, “Then why don’t you?”

And they say, “I don’t know… because [fill in any excuse here]“.

Too hard – not enough time – too old – too busy – it’s not really me – I’d fail…

Then why do you wish it? What does a wish do? Nothing! Wishing upon a star gets you nowhere! Working to achieve your dreams, well, that gets you to gear 4, 5, 6 or 7!

I feel like saying (and sometimes I do) – “You are right – you can’t achieve that goal!”

Just watch the Disney movie, “The Princess and the Frog”, for a great example of this!

I also feel like saying, “You won’t achieve your goal because you really don’t want to.”

Seriously folks – if you really want to accomplish something you will. If you don’t want to accomplish something – you won’t. If you say, I’m going to gym to work out because I want to look great – and you don’t go to the gym – you really don’t ‘want’ to look great.

Okay, I’ve gotten into heated discussions, er, arguments, on this, the ‘come-back argument’ from people is:

NO! I really want to! [dramatic pause] BUT… [fill in more excuses here].

I just fall back to – Then why don’t you?

The excuses that come out of people’s mouths when you put them to the test is amazing! They have an excuse for everything!

Here’s a personal example of wanting something but not doing what it takes to get it:

I wanted to be a full time writer. I wanted to be a successful movie writer. I had a full time job, I committed writing scripts for 10 years part time – but I did not achieve my goal. Obviously, I didn’t want it bad enough. Or I would have done more during my ’spare time’, during my part time, in order to achieve that goal. I admit it. Instead of watching TV for 14 hours a week, I should have written my script! But I didn’t! Did I want it? I said I did, but obviously I did not want it bad enough because I didn’t do what I could have done!

Do you want to look physically fit? Do you want to loose weight? Do you want to earn half a million dollars a year?

If you do – then you have to do something about it. Guess what… there are no excuses. The only reason why you won’t achieve these things is because you are stuck in 1st gear – and you really don’t want it bad enough.

Don’t be like this. Use your Personal Motivation to actually get up in the morning when you say you want to, avoid that donut at work because you know its bad for you, and act on a million dollar opportunity because you know its the doorway to wealth.

And here’s a little secret.

Do the one thing that you are motivated to do for 7 days straight. That’s it! 7 days!

Then – check back on the 8th day and say to yourself – that’s not too hard! Then do it for another 7 days! Evaluate the past 14 days and say – wow… that wasn’t hard at all. THEN… do it for another 7 days! It is now becoming a good habit. It is now becoming who you are! And guess what – it only took 7 days!

The first day you are getting into gear 1. Day 2 it gets easier, smoother. Day 3, faster, better. By Day 7 you are cruising and believe me, you’ll wish you had an 8th gear. But step back, reflect, pat yourself on the back, and start at gear 1 again!

If you want to work out and go to the gym – do it for 7 straight days. Write it down in your calendar. If its too early in the morning, go when you can fit it in – for 7 straight days!

If you want to read more, read for 10 minutes a day, write it down, put it in your schedule, then read at that time for 7 straight days!

If you want to write your book, COMMIT to 7 days of writing!

That’s it! 7 days! Guess what – 21 days and you are a new, better you! Personal Motivation got you to 7 days, then 14, then 21!

Don’t walk away from this saying – heard all those goal setting programs before. Instead say, that 7 day thing – I’m going to change my life!

That’s it folks! Get it into 7th gear! Get out of 1st. First gear gets you nowhere. Your mind and body ache to get into 2nd gear. And once you get to 7th – you’ll down shift, cruise, and start it all up again!

Now that’s personal motivation! You find it, shift it into 1st gear, and continue it into high gear! It works!

and want to know the reason why
you don’t have one, read this:

Personal Motivation can take you a long way. Self improvement and motivation is key to success. Stop the excuses! Say to yourself: “I’m going to change my life.” And don’t say, “I’ve heard all this before.”

I hope you take this tip and run with it! Get it into gear!
