Do you want to learn a simple secret to personal motivation?
Then read on!
Here’s a piece advice that you can use as personal motivation: Don’t think about what people have done for you lately, instead, think about what people have done for you- period. This piece of information may sound so simple but I guarantee, most people don’t even think about it. This is just one secret to the ‘change your mind change your life’ way of thinking!
Another way of putting it: Don’t think about what people have NOT done for you, think about what they once did for you!
Why is this advice on personal motivation? Because by thinking about something positive about someone puts you in a positive mood. A positive mood leads to a positive outlook. A positive outlook leads to a better life!

I’m sure you’ve heard someone say, “Why should I do that for him? He’s never done anything for me!” Or, “Why should I do anything for her, she hasn’t done anything for me lately?”
Thinking about what people have not done for you means you are finding a reason to be negative. The thinking process is bigger than the statement itself because people tend to think about the, ‘what you have done for me lately’ concept before they do something for others.
If you have or had a relationship with someone, and you say, ‘what have you done for me lately?’ what’s the point? Think about why you have or had a relationship with this person and look back at your life and see what they did for you – not lately – but whenever. It doesn’t matter – a year ago, ten years ago. The day you met, the day you last met. There was a reason why you have or had a relationship with this person so find out why you did and make it a point to find the good in it, instead the negative side: what they did for you lately.
Seriously – doesn’t that sound crazy? We say, “Why should I do anything for him? He hasn’t done anything for me.”
Get deeper – did he or she ever make you laugh? Ever call you with question that you answered because they knew you would know the answer? Did that person buy you dinner… LONG TIME AGO? If so, forget the ‘lately stuff’. Think about what they did and not what they aren’t doing!
Okay – sounds simple right – but it isn’t. I can go down a list of people who I could say, why should I call him or her, she never calls me! But when it comes right down to it – that person I’m talking about probably shared a great time with me at one point or another. And the bottom line is – its not what they are doing for me, its what they did for me! Make me happy, smile, buy me a beer, shared a moment at the movies… its all about the good, positive things. Not the whole ‘serve me now’ things.
So take this one tip and bite your tongue and change your thoughts when you find yourself saying, “What have you done for me lately.” Quickly think about something good they did in the past, and not lately, and use that as personal motivation to keeping the ‘change your mind change your life’ attitude that CreateYourMind wants to impress upon you!
So take this piece of advice to heart once again: Don’t think with a question: What have you done for me lately? Think with a statement: What you did for me!
