Goal Setting Template – what are goals?
Goal Setting Template What are Goals?
Do you write down your goals? You better! I just bought some blue 3×5 index cards and will be using these to write my goals on. Yes, with a blue pen. Why? I don’t know – but this is what I heard: that it is best to write down your goals on blue index cards with blue ink…
So…
I’m doing it. Why not right? Our Goal Setting Podcast also mentions this so I need to practice what I preach right?
“Goals allow you to control the direction of change in your favor.” Brian Tracy
Anyway, as Orlando and I develop our CreateYourMind Goal Setting Template or worksheet, I have found some alternatives. There is one web based tool that I’m interested in simply because if its web based, it will be accessible from anywhere at anytime. From my iPhone, library computer, my sister’s house, etc.
“People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.” Earl Nightingale
So if you are looking for a goal setting template or tool, check this one out:

This could be what you, me, or whoever needs something more organized outside of their calendar or task list on their phone, can use!
Now back to the question – what are goals?
A goal, in personal achievement and in a goal setting program is: The end result that you are attempting to achieve. It is the specific objective that a person or system intends to achieve.
So lets break that down a little…
A goal is a program with an end result! It is specific, and it is not meant to just sit there looking pretty, it is meant to be achieved! Hey, that’s what we do here! We have a goal setting program that will get you to an end result!
For instance – I had this on my task list today – these were my goals for the day: Write 9 articles.
But that’s not specific, so two days ago I came up with a list which led to the ‘specifics’ of my goals for today.
I had 9 articles with their titles ready to write. For example, one ’specific’ article for an online article website is this:
“How Paid Search Differs From Organic Search”
It was specific. I was going to write not ‘just another article’ I was going to write an article with that title. I had 7 of them to write which was related to Search Engine Optimization, 1 on the iPhone 4G, and today’s article on Goal Setting Template.
Another article on the Apple iPhone 4G was this one:
“Apple iPhone 4G release date – 4G Rumored Features”
I worked from the most important article to the least. And yes, this article you are reading now was last on my list. Why is that significant? Well, if you listened to our “Success and Opportunity Readiness Track” one of our daily dozen +1 is to stay focused and to “Eat that Frog” as Brian Tracy suggests. Do the hardest, most difficult, and most important task first – and those were my Helium.com articles!
This article was last on my list – It also required a little follow up research on a Goal Setting Template or Goal Setting Worksheet.
The point is – I had goals I intended to achieve – and they were very specific.
“I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacation with better care than they do their lives.Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change.” Jim Rohn
Having a goal to make a million dollars is NOT specific. Having a goal to buy 10 houses in order to ‘flip them’ at a million dollar profit each is more specific. A goal to buy 10 houses in the Pacific Palisades and surrounding area in order to flip them in 24 months in order to earn one million dollars profit is getting even more specific.
The end result – to accomplish what is intended to achieve.
“There is no achievement without goals.” Robert J. McKaine
That being said, you need to write down your goals. From small to large. From short to long. Write them down on a blue index card with blue ink!
The goal setting template, or web based tool will help you write down your intended accomplishment.

Good post-
I would like to offer jsut two comments/suggestons.
Life is not static-but ever changing/evolving. Our lives are constantly being impacted by events/circumstances that impact our lives in a specific and profound ways. Because of this fact, ones’ goals, dreams and aspirations that they had 6 months or 12 months ago may no longer be valid for today’s new reality.
Many view and embrace goal setting as a once in a life-time event-which couldn’t be farther from the truth. At the minimum-you should re-examine your goals every 6 months top ensure your new goals reflect your new life purpose and mission.
Secondly, just writing down your SMART Goals, and diferentiating between short term and long term SMART goals and developing an action plan does not gurantee one’s success. You have to develop the faith and belief in yoourself or in God that you will accomplish your goal objectives. If you CAN believe it you CAN achieve it. Conversely, if you don’t believe you WILL-more likely than not you WON’T.
Best-
Wayne
I agree with you 100%. Setting Goals is really just the beginning. In our upcoming podcast we will be talking about evaluating and reassessing your goals.
In our previous series we talked all about the prep work needed to accomplish your goals.
Excellent points please keep them coming.
