Learn to look up instead of down!

I came across a great blog called, “Monday Morning Gold” run by Spencer. He posted some inspirational poems so you need to head over there to check it out. But one, to me, stuck out and I’m borrowing it for CYM. If there is one tip on how to change your life its to never give up. Hence the title of this post – learn to look up instead of down!

There have been so many times I’ve fallen flat on my face. Sometimes ‘we’ get into a moment of defeat and we curl up in bed and wallow – we put things we need to do aside and we look down. We, and I mean “I” really, get knocked down so many times in a row, why not throw in the towel and say that’s that? Well, here’s the inspirational poem…

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.

It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

I had one of those days. Maybe I was burnt out. Maybe I was having sleepless nights because of an uncertain future. Maybe I realize there is so much work to do in order to succeed that it seems overwhelming! I talk about not quitting and doing the things most people are not willing to do – and then there I was – stuck in bed after feeling a couple of body shots and a blow to the head.

Did I want people to notice? To notice that, yeah, the positive go-getter over there sometimes has road blocks to overcome? Maybe. But after a couple of hours I decided not to look down anymore, and really look up. I took my words and let them motivate me – I am going to do what most people don’t do when the road gets tough – and that’s succeed versus quit!

So I got out of bed and got online and ran across that poem that really made a difference. And it came to me! Spencer posted in my blog – I didn’t even know who he was. So I visited his website and there it was! Kicking me in the butt and saying – WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU TODAY?

Isn’t it weird how that happens?

So many times someone has told me that the quote I’ve posted on Twitter or Facebook got to them at the perfect time – as if I was reading their minds!

Well, someone was reading mine if that’s how you want to say it. God? Probably. Again, I’ve said this before to so many people that I hate using this phrase or observation but I have to use it now. “God works in mysterious ways.”

So I leave it up to Him, and I’m up and ready to go. I’m ready to work because if I work it means I have yet to quit! And believe me – I don’t quit!

That’s how to improve your life. Do one thing different than you’ve done before. Instead of quitting, get up and get back at it! Learn to look up instead of down! That’s the road to success!
