Motivation in The Workplace

“Getting ahead on the job in uncertain times”

“Prepare yourself for the world, as athletes used to do for their exercises; oil your mind and your manners, to give them the necessary suppleness and flexibility; strength alone will not do.” Lord Chesterfield

Your company may be in the midst of corporate ‘trimming’, cost cutting, and possible layoffs. The economy is battling a high unemployment rate. These trends come and go, but during uncertain times the focus should be to maintain motivation in the workplace, and continue to achieve the goals you have set – even if it is trying to get ahead on the job during tough economic conditions.

There are no guarantees that you will get ahead, there are no guarantees that you can avoid a layoff, but there is one guarantee – that you can do what it takes to prepare yourself for success; which may lead to open doors and the chance to get ahead when the opportunity presents itself.

Here are tips on maintaining motivation in the workplace and working to ‘get ahead’ despite uncertainty!

1. Visualize your goals and dreams
2. Write down your goals and dreams
3. Keep your goals and dreams visible

Everyone has come across very difficult situations in life. Most people find it easier to quit then to persevere and reap the rewards. Most people want the easy way in order to achieve their goals yet the easy way rarely results in any type of success. There’s a saying, “It’s about the journey.”

Self-improvement and motivation in the workplace takes action! Taking action is the only guarantee you will have as you try to get ahead.

The key to getting ahead is having clear-cut goals. This is not a secret, the successful people have goals – and they have written them down! The question is, have you? In fact, only 3% of people who have goals actually write them down!

1. Visualize your goals and dreams

Goal-setting is the key to getting ahead in your career and in your personal life. Achieving the goal by taking action is up to you. Make sure your goals and dreams are clear and are achievable or you are wasting your time! See them in your head and understand – it takes action to achieve them!

You may have to create new healthy habits, plan your life better, and learn goal setting techniques so that you can prepare to achieve them! If this is accomplished, people who want to get ahead in life can succeed at what they want. Goals and dreams need to be visualized first.

You will never know where to go if you cannot see your destination! Only the prepared will get ahead… (more)
